Emend (2025), scored for banjo, cello, and percussion, is a contemporary chamber performance-art work that channels the abstractness of repair, vulnerability, boldness,
and transformation. Through explorations of texture, form, rhythm, and gesture,
the work creates a story of growth, representing a person's ability to
accept and learn from experience -- to be human.
Originally part of the collaborative music-and-dance work ASAP/Emend
(with choreographer LaMonte Sadler), Emend has evolved
into an independent concert piece.
