Sonder (2023-24) is a trio inspired by the meaning of the word "Sonder":

The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street,

has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it.

The structure of the piece is set in a scene where the attention is moved throughout the ensemble. Each instrument has its own personality/character. They are all in conversation with each other, despite sometimes over-talking one another. Along with very individualized melodic lines, the theatrical element of the work adds an additional layer to the character interactions. Sonder has a mood that can be described as thoughtful and sometimes playful; expressed through musical structure, wide range of dynamics, independence from all performers, and extended techniques such as air sounds, multiphonics, and using different parts of the instruments.
